The Gryphons rode some hot shooting in the early going to test the Marauders. Guelph hit three of six from long distance before a late Beatty jumper and pair of free throws put the hosts in good position tied 24-24 after the opening period. But Mac went on a crippling 19-2 run in what proved to be a decisive second quarter. Two Connor Gilmore jumpers and a dunk from Troy Joseph spurred an 8-0 start as the Marauders began pulling away from Guelph. Kingslee D'Silva broke the run with a jumper but Mac then went on to tally 11 more unanswered, ultimately outscoring Guelph 24-11 in the second quarter.

Gilmore, who finished with 14 points and six rebounds, set the tone in the second half with a three-pointer for a 52-35 lead. The closest Guelph would get the rest of the way was within 16 points.

Leon Alexander led all Mac players with 20 points, while Rohan Boney added 18 and seven boards off of the bench. Guelph also had trouble with Joseph, who scored 16 and had a game-high eight rebounds.
