Guelph, ON - The University of Guelph women's volleyball team lost in straight sets to the Lakehead Thunderwolves Friday night at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Center. Set scores were 22-25, 23-25 & 20-25. The first set started with Lakehead jumping out to an early 6-2 lead and they led 16-13 at the technical timeout. The Gryphons could get no closer than 2 points the rest of the way as the Thunderwolves won 25-22. Guelph got behind early in set 2 and trailed through the technical timeout. A 5-0 run allowed the Gryphons to lead 21-19 but they couldn't hold the lead and fell 25-23. The third set had Lakehead again jumping out to a comfortable early lead. Guelph managed to narrow the lead to 2 points late but the Thunderwolves finished the match with a 25-20 win.

Coach Funk stated, "We didn't compete and were beaten at every skill tonight. Credit to Lakehead for forcing us into numerous errors in many facets."
