Montreal (Aug. 24 2014) – The Guelph Gryphons football team dropped their pre-season opener, 38-10, to the Montreal Carabins on Sunday (Aug. 24) in Montreal.
The Gryphons only tallied 268 offensive yards on the day, compared to the Carabins 601 yards. In the first quarter, Guelph opened the scoring with a single and then followed that up with a three-yard touchdown pass from James Roberts to Curtis D'Hollander. Guelph was held scoreless in the second and third quarter. Their only other points on the scoreboard came from the foot of Gabriel Ferraro on a 43-yard fourth quarter field goal.
The Gryphons will now return home to prepare for their first regular season game on Labour Day Monday at McMaster. The Gryphons kick things off at Alumni Stadium on September 6 against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 1:00 p.m.
