WHKY: Gryphons lose 4-1 to first place Western

London, Ont.  – After taking an early 1-0 lead Saturday night in London, the Gryphon women's hockey team would give up four unanswered goals to the Mustangs as Western would go on to win 4-1.  With the loss, the Gryphons fall to 7-2-2 on the season while the first place Mustangs sit at 11-0-1.
 
After picking up a big win the previous night in Windsor, the Gryphons once again got off to a good start on Saturday in London as Marcie Landman (Alma, Ont.) would give Guelph a 1-0 lead with her first goal of the season coming at the 5:53 mark of the first period.  The Mustangs would respond later in the period however with a pair of goals from Kendra Broad as Western took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
 
In the second period, Western would add another to take a 3-1 lead to the third period, where they would tack on one more late in regulation.  The Gryphons actually out-shot the Mustangs 30-23 on the night but leave London with just their second regulation loss of the season. 
 
The Gryphons will now get ready for a pair of afternoon games next weekend at the Gryphon Centre.  On Saturday, November 29 the Gryphons will host Nipissing at 2pm.  On Sunday (Nov. 30) the Gryphons will host another matinee affair as they welcome Laurentian at 2pm.
