SUDBURY, Ont. (November 15, 2013) – The Guelph Gryphon men's basketball team dropped an 86-64 final Friday night to the CIS No.10 Laurentian Voyageurs on the road. The undefeated Voyageurs continue their undefeated streak and move to 5-0 while the Gryphons are 0-5.
Second year
Trevor Thompson was the lone Gryphon scoring double digits finishing with 10 points.
Adam Kemp and
Daniel Dooley scored eight apiece while
Michel Clark and
Konnor Finlay chipped in with seven.
Laurentian was led by Alex Ratte who scored a game-high 33 points.
Within the first two quarters Laurentian put up 45 points, while holding Guelph to 27 at the half. At the end of the first quarter the Voyageurs led 27-18. Throughout the second half the Gryphons improved their offensive presence. Laurentian outscored Guelph by two in each quarter, 24-22 in the third and 17-15 in the fourth. Despite improving in the second half, the Gyphons couldn't manage to find their way out of the first half deficit.
The Gryphons continue their road trip tomorrow against Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie for an 8:00 p.m. game.
