Gryphons soar over Ravens to remain undefeated

Ottawa – The CIS No. 4 Guelph Gryphons football team defeated the Carleton Ravens 48-12 Friday night in Ottawa.

The Gryphons remain undefeated and move to 7-0, while the Ravens drop to 0-7. Guelph sits tied for first atop the OUA standings with the 7-0 Western Mustangs. The victory also marks the Gryphons 14th consecutive regular season win.
 
Football vs. Carleton
At the end of the first quarter the Gryphons held a slim10-3 lead. In the opening minutes of the second quarter the Ravens tied the game at 10. By the end of the first half the Gryphons grabbed a 24-10 lead. The second half was all Gryphons outscoring the Ravens 24-2. 

Statistically the Ravens kept pace with the Gryphons for the entire contest.  In the end, Carleton racked up 494 total offensive yards compared to Guelph's 474. The Ravens rushed for 206 yards, Guelph 215. Carleton had more passing yards (288) than Guelph (259).
 
Rob Farquharson once again led the Gryphons with 122 yards on 12 carries and scoring two touchdowns. Jazz Lindsey finished the game 15-for-23 and 198 yards. His favorite target was his brother Saxon Lindsey with six catches for 91 yards and one touchdown. Dillion Dimitroff was right behind him with five catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.
 
Curtis Newton and Michael Carney led the defence with six and five tackles respectively.
 
The Gryphons are looking to close out the regular season undefeated next Saturday (Oct. 19) when they face the No. 5 Queens Gaels in Kingston on Saturday.  It will be Queen's Homecoming game. Game time is 1:00 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on Sportsnet.
