Feb. 3: Windsor 83 – Guelph 50
WINDSOR - The Gryphon women's basketball team dropped an 83-50 game tonight to the CIS No. 2 ranked Windsor Lancers in Windsor. The Gryphons drop to 8-9 on the season.
The game was a re-scheduled contest that had been postponed due to weather from the previous night.
The Lancers built an early 19-8 lead in the opening quarter before the Gryphons cut back into the lead in the second quarter. Guelph outscored Windsor 23-18 in the second frame and trailed by only six at the break.
The second half was all Windsor as the home team came out on fire and completely dominated both ends of the court going on a 24-5 run in the third quarter to put the game out of hand.
Rookie Kayla Goodhoofd (Oakville, Ont.) was the lone Gryphon to score double digits with 10 points.
Windsor's Jessica Clemencon finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead all scorers. Morgan Jean, who previously played three years for Guelph from 2006-2008 was very solid against her former team as she finished with 16 points.
The Gryphons are back on the road this Saturday in London against the Western Mustangs. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
