The struggles continue for the Guelph Gryphon football team following a 41-21 loss to the Windsor Lancers on Saturday night at Alumni Field in Windsor.
The Lancers utilized a balanced offensive attack to move to 4-1 on the season in front of 2,641 fans on a chilly evening that was part of Alumni Weekend at the University of Windsor. Meanwhile the Guelph Gryphons drop to 1-4, dropping the last three straight games.

The Lancers outscored the Gryphons 18-6 in the third quarter, which meant the difference in the end. Penalties were also a factor in the game as the Gryphons were charged with 17 in total for a loss of 173 yards, compared to Windsor's 12 for 100yards.Â
Making his OUA debut was first-year quarterback
Jazz Lindsey (Markham, Ont.). The pivot completed 11-of-32 passes for 202 yards, including two touchdowns. Second year running back
Robert Farquharson (Niagara Falls, Ont.) had 17 carries for 92 yards including a touchdown.
Kevin Campbell (Pickering, Ont.) led the Gryphons in receiving with 87 yards on four catches and a touchdown.Â
In the penalty-riddled contest, the visiting Gryphons conceded a safety in the first quarter to give Windsor a 2-0 lead.

When Windsor's Dan Cerino's punt into a stiff wind kicked back towards the onrushing Lancers, defensive back A.J. Langlois dove and slapped the ball out of bounds, garnering Windsor possession deep in to Guelph territory.
From there, Windsor quarterback Austin Kennedy engineered a drive that culminated in a one-yard scoring pass to Cory Fernandes. Windsor's Shomari Grant would add another 1 yard TD with less than two minutes left in the half.

On the next offensive possession, Guelph's Jazz Lindsey completed a 40-yard toss to Kevin Campbell to give the Gryphons their first score of the game. The Gryphons capped off the touchdown with a two-point conversion pass from Jazz to his brother, Saxson Lindsey to make the score 16 – 8 Windsor at the half.

Taking the wind to open the second half, Windsor put up 18 third-quarter points to gain a 34-14 advantage. Scores came from Evan Pszczonak and Kennedy, along with a field goal and rouge from Cerino.
With the Gryphons driving in the fourth quarter and giving off the impression that they might make a game of it, Matt McGarva stepped in front of a Jazz Lindsey pass, rambling 109 yards for another Lancers TD, essentially puttting the game out of the Gryphons reach (41-14).
With four minutes to play in the contest, Guelph's Rob Farquharson capped off a seven drive for 70 yards with a touchdown to finish the game with a 41-21 final.
Up next the Gryphons are on the road again next Saturday (Oct. 8) against the OUA leading Western Mustangs.
