The men's basketball team went 1-1 this weekend with a 90-77 win over Ryerson on Friday night followed by an 86-70 loss on Saturday to Toronto. The Gryphons drop to 3-3 and are in a four-way tie for fourth in the West.
Nov. 19: Guelph 90 - Ryerson 77
The Guelph Gryphon men's basketball team defeated the Ryerson Rams on Friday night 90-77. The Gryphons win was their third straight, and they advance to 3-2 on the season.
Jonathan Moscatelli led all scorers with 30 points including 5-for-7 from three point range. Kareem Malcolm was the only other Gryphon in double figures tallying 19 points. Rookie Jerald Greenidge was a dominant presence on the boards for the Gryphons in a season-high 16-rebound performance, including 12 defensive boards.
The Gryphons outscored the Rams for the first three quaters of play, going into the fourth quarter with a 71-48 lead. Ryerson managed to outscore Guelph 29-19 in the final frame, but it was too little too late as the Gryphons fended off their late charge.
The Gryphons outrebounded the Rams 38-27 and shot an impressive 49.3 percent from the field on 35-for-71.

Nov. 20: Toronto 86 - Guelph 70
On Saturday, the men's basketball team dropped an 86-70 road loss to the CIS No. 10 Toronto Varsity Blues tonight in Toronto.
The Gryphons were led by Michael Petrella's 17-point performance, while Michel Clark and Jonathan Moscatelli each had 16 points. Daniel McCarthy recorded 14 points and Jerald Greenidge tallied a team-high 10 boards in the loss.
Guelph completes the interlock part of the schedule next Friday and Saturday with Laurentian and York respectively. Game time is 8pm both nights at the W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre.
