For the second time in just her third season at the University of Guelph, Alison Carrow has earned the title of national champion. On Saturday at Brock University, Carrow took home a gold medal in the women's 67kg weight class. What is even more impressive, is that she accomplished the feat with one good knee. About one week prior to nationals, Alison suffered a partial tear in her ACL. The injury limited her in some movement and forced her to wrestle defensively in order to protect the injury. Not only did Alison manage the injury successfully, she also found a way to avenge her loss from the OUA Championships to Brock's Jessica Brouillette. Carrow was forced to settle for silver at the conference level after being defeated by Brouilette in the finals. But on Saturday, with her knee heavily taped and her approach significantly altered, Carrow found a way to defeat the Brock standout and secure the second CIS gold medal of her career.

Carrow was the lone U of G woman to take home gold from the event and was one of three gold medalists for the Gryphons in total, as both Tyson Frost (120kg) and Oren Furmanov (54kg) were crowned national champions on the men's side.
