Mac, a former member of the Guelph Storm who is in his first year with the Gryphon men's hockey team, scored three goals this past Saturday (Jan. 3) in an 8-1 win over the Ryerson Rams.  The rookie defenceman, who had recorded one goal through his previous 16 games, had a pair of shots from the point find the back of the net during even strength situations in each of the first two periods.  Nichol, a fixture on the blueline of Guelph's power play unit, would complete the hat trick in the third period on the man advantage by stick handling around a defender before sneaking in from the point and firing home a wrist shot from in close.  Wherever Nichol has played (Guelph Storm, Listowel Cyclones, Guelph Gryphons) he has been known as a solid two-way player, but it was his offensive skills that were on full display this past weekend as he also assisted on the final goal of the game to finish with a four-point night in a huge win for the Gryphons.
