POWERADE WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Samantha Russell, Women’s Basketball

Third-year Samantha Russell from Paradise Valley, AZ was a dominant force this past weekend, guiding the Guelph Gryphon women’s basketball team to a 2-0 weekend with victories over Laurentian and York. The 6’0 forward tallied double-double performances in both games. On Friday night, in a 68-59 win over Laurentian she had 19 points, 11 rebounds, shot 50 percent from the field and went 7-for-8 from the free throw line (87.5%). The next night in a 68-52 win over York she had 24 points, 12 rebounds, shot 52.6 percent from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line (80%).
