STEPHANIE NEHRING, WOMEN’S HOCKEY

Stephanie Nehring, a second-year goalie from Oshawa, Ont., turned aside 23 of 25 pucks fired her way to guide the Gryphons to a 3-2 upset win over the OUA leading Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday at the Gryphon Centre. The victory extends the Gryphons current win-streak to 12-straight. The Criminal Justice and Public Policy student also chipped in with a big assist, making a long break out pass to teammate Amanda Parkins who sent Hilary Walsh on net for the go-ahead goal with under a minute left in the second period.  Coming off a serious injury that sidelined the netminder for the entire first half of the season, Nehring has been fantastic in her first six starts with a 1.33 goals against average and a .930 save percentage for a perfect 6-0 record.
