Brandon Maxwell, a first-year goalie from Guelph, Ont. made 49-of-51 saves this past week as the Gryphons recorded a 1-1 record.  He made 23 of 25 saves in a nailbiting 2-1 loss to the Western Mustangs on Thursday. He followed up that with another a lock-down performance on Saturday making 26 saves en route to a 2-0 shutout win over the Laurier Golden Hawks. This was his third shutout of the season. His 96.1 save percentage this weekend makes him the conference leader in save percentage, goals against average and shutouts. To top it off he also had his second assist of the season on the insurance goal by Mike Hasson in the team’s win over Laurier.
