Alex King, Women’s Soccer
Rookie goalkeeper Alex King of Ottawa was outstanding in net this past weekend for the Guelph Gryphons women’s soccer team.  The Gryphons were 1-0-1 on the weekend, allowing only one goal in her 180 minutes played.  King notched 10 saves on Saturday against a very tough CIS No. 6 ranked Laurier Golden Hawk team in a 1-1 tie; the only shot that beat the rookie netminder was an unstoppable shot from the OUA’s current leading scorer.  The next day the Zoology student earned a shutout in a 1-0 Gryphon win over the Waterloo Warriors.  The Gryphons hit the turf again this Wednesday (Oct. 24) as they travel to York for an OUA West quarter-final against the York Lions.
