KALMAR, Sweden – After five seasons with the Guelph Gryphons men's hockey team,
Zach McFadden has signed a pro deal with
Kalmar HC (in Sweden's third-highest division). The sociology grad and Guelph native joined the Gryphons back in 2015-16 after having played the previous season with the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL.

Throughout his Gryphon career, Zach established himself as one of the fastest and most mobile defenceman in the OUA, suiting up in 86 games with the Gryphons over the course of his five seasons, recording 23 points and 120 penalty minutes. The now 24-year-old also played two seasons of OUA hockey alongside his older brother, Josh McFadden, who was named the Gryphons team MVP following the 2017-18 season.

Shawn Camp. "He is an excellent skater who has speed and is so mobile with the puck. He has been such an important part of our championship group and has all the characterisits on and off the ice to be a solid pro."
This past season, Zach McFadden capped his final season at the University of Guelph by helping the Gryphons capture the seventh OUA title in program history with a memorable playoff run that was capped with a triple-overtime victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the 109th Queen's Cup.
