Imatra, FINLAND – Just four months after helping lead the Guelph Gryphons men's hockey team to their seventh OUA title in program history, Marc Stevens has signed a professional contract in Finland.
The native of Turkey Point, Ontario, who majored in social and applied human sciences during his four-year career with the Gryphons men's hockey team, has signed with
Imatran Ketterä in the Finnish Mestis league (second-highest division in Finland). Stevens becomes the 28th Gryphons men's hockey player in the past seven seasons to sign a pro deal.
Marc Stevens arrived at the University of Guelph in 2016 following a standout career with the Guelph Storm, which included an OHL Championship in 2014.

Marc, who also received the
Mike Kelly Humanitarian Award during his time with the Storm, made an immediate impact after joining the Gryphons, earning team rookie of the year honours following the 2016-17 campaign. Over the course of his four seasons as a Gryphon, Stevens suited up in 134 games, tallying 104 points (54 goals, 50 assists) and 242 penalty minutes.
In his fourth and final year as a Gryphon, Marc Stevens took home the Jack Pos Trophy as MVP of the Gryphons men's hockey team after tying for the team-lead in scoring during the OUA playoffs with 7 points in 9 games (4 goals, 3 assists), including the opening goal of the 109th Queen's Cup, a game Guelph won 2-1 in triple overtime over the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

During the regular season, Stevens finished fourth on the team in scoring with 26 pts in 28 games played (14 goals, 12 assists). Stevens was a key component all season long for the OUA's highest-powered offence, with the Gryphons scoring an OUA-best 127 goals during the regular season.
Stevens, who also attended L.A. Kings Development Camp in the summer of 2018 and was named the Gryphons assistant captain for the 2019-20 season, is now set to join one of the most successful pro teams in Finland, with Imatra Ketterä winning the Mestis Championship in 2018-19, as well as sitting in first-place in the league in 2019-20 prior to the season being cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
