Douglas & Gvora named Gryphon Athletes of the Week

Guelph Gryphon womens basketball player Jasmine Douglas and men's hockey player Justin Gvora were named this week's Gryphon Athletes of the Week.

Jasmine Douglas, a fourth-year Psychology student from Guelph, Ont., knotched a pair of double-double performances this past week as the Gryphons went 1-1 thanks to a 79-61 win over Waterloo and a close 75-69 loss to Laurier.  The 6-foot-0 centre opened the week with 14 points and 13 rebounds against the Laurier Golden Hawks.  She followed up on Saturday with a near perfect performance over Waterloo with 24 points, 11 rebounds and went 14-for-15 from the free throw line.  This was her fourth straight double-double performance for the Gryphons in regular season action.

Justin Gvora, a fourth year centre from Thunder Bay, Ont., scored five goals this past weekend as the Gryphons went 2-0 thanks to a 3-1 win over UOIT and a 5-3 defeat of Laurier in the Annual Frosty Mug at the Sleeman Centre.  The Business student scored two goals on Friday night to lead the Gryphons over the Ridgebacks and followed that up with a hat trick against Laurier.
