BURLINGTON, Ont. – On Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 4), Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced the All-Stars and major award winners for the 2025 men's rugby season, with nine individuals from the Guelph Gryphons men's rugby program receiving conference-wide recognition, including
Jakob Schulz as the recipient of the Community Service Award and head coach
Cory Hector being named OUA Coach of the Year.

Jakob Schulz – Community Service Award
Jakob Schulz is the recipient of the OUA Community Service Award for his work on and off the rugby field. Schulz is a fourth-year winger who serves in the community as a Big Brother to a local 1st grade student. Schulz helps his "Little Brother" with his passions which are hockey and provides a friendly ear for him to share. This past season, in collaboration with the women's rugby program, the Binbrook, Ontario led the collection of valuable winter clothing which was donated to Hope House Guelph. This marks the first time in program history, a member of the men's rugby team has named the Community Service Award winner. The sport and event management major on the season has scored three tries and has made a convert.
Cory Hector – Coach of the Year

For the second consecutive season, head coach
Cory Hector has been named OUA Coach of the Year. Hector, in his 10th season as the leader of the U of G men's rugby program, led his team to another perfect 6-0 regular season, clinching top spot in the conference. This is the third time Hector has been named Coach of the Year as he previously won the award in 2024 and 2016. Hector has led the Gryphons to five conference championships, including the last four in a row. Hector and the Gryphons will look to win their fifth consecutive OUA banner this Thursday night (Nov. 6) as they prepare to host the Queen's Gaels in the 2025 OUA Championship game at U of G's Varsity Field.
Seven Gryphon men's rugby student-athletes were named OUA All-Stars on Tuesday, including three to the First Team.
Owen Williams and
Charles Trollip for the second consecutive season have been named an OUA First Team All-Stars. For Williams, the fourth-year human kinetics major, this is the third time he's earned All-Star status. Trollip, the fourth-year local product has scored four tries on the season. Joining Williams and Trollip on the First Team is Kal Sager who makes his first appearance as an all-star in the back three.
