The Gryphons are looking for Laura to adjust quickly to OUA hockey in her rookie season. She’s a big defenceman who isn’t afraid to use her size to her advantage in the corners and in front of the net. She plays a smart positional game that allows her to regain possession of the puck for her team. As she is a very good skater, she’s a threat to skate out of her own zone with the puck or join the rush to outnumber the opponent. The coaching staff expects Laura to play a hard, physical game while staying out of the penalty box. Pre-Guelph: Laura is from Drumbo, Ontario. She played the 2007-08 season with the Burlington Junior AA Barracudas of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League. She had 5 assists in 32 games played and she led the team in penalty minutes with 50 on the season. In 2006-07, Laura played with the Cambridge Intermediate AA Roadrunners.
