GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons celebrated the best and brightest from a memorable 2024-25 season by holding the annual Gryphons Athletics Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons varsity wrestling program is coming home from Thunder Bay with a pair of individual national champions. Casey Harkley, a second-year management economics and finance major at the University of Guelph, was crowned national champion for a second consecutive year in the men's 68kg weight class. Tyler Barry, a third-year arts major at U of G, claimed gold in the men's 72kg weight class for the first U SPORTS medal of his wrestling career. The Gryphons had 16 wrestlers in action (8 men, 8 women) over the course of the two-day (Feb. 27-28) national championship event, with Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario serving as the hosts of the 2026 Wrestling Canada Lutte U SPORTS Invitational Championships. The wrestling team will travel north to Thunder Bay for the 2026 Wrestling Canada Lutte U SPORTS Invitational Championships while the men's hockey team continues their playoffs with an OUA Quarterfinal matchup against the Windsor Lancers and the women's hockey team begins their postseason when they open their best-of-three OUA Quarterfinal series with the Waterloo Warriors. LONDON, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons varsity wrestling program sent 24 student-athletes (12 men and 12 women) to London, Ontario on Saturday (Feb. 7) to compete in the 2026 OUA Wrestling Championships. The Gryphons had eight wrestlers reach the OUA podium (5 silver, 3 bronze), with Guelph finishing the one-day championship event in 4th-place in the final team standings, on both the men's and women's sides.
