Rebecca Parker is this week's 'OUA Athlete of the Week' following her top-tier performance at the 2026 OUA Track and Field Championships. The Gryphons track and field team was in Toronto for the 2026 OUA Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 20-21) where Parker competed in the women's pentathlon and long jump where she came in 1st-place in both events, earning double gold. The fifth-year Windsor native in the women's pentathlon scored a new OUA best score of 4234 points, breaking her own OUA record she set at last season's provincial championships. Parker also broke the women's pentathlon record in the 60m hurdles (8.39s) and long jump (6.03m) in her gold medal winning performance. This is the third consecutive year which Parker came in 1st-place in the women's pentathlon at OUA Track and Field Championships. For the criminal justice and public policy major, it wouldn't the only gold medal she'd come home with. Parker took home the women's long jump crown with a jump of 6.10m in her 5th jump of the competition, earning her a second gold medal at the meet.
Rebecca Parker's double gold medal winning performance earned her the Dr. Wendy Jerome Trophy as the most valuable performer of the meet. The Gryphons swept both the men's and women's team titles at the meet. Parker and the rest of the track and field team are off this week before they close out their season in Winnipeg for the 2026 U SPORTS Track and Field Championships from March 5 to 7.
