A quick turnaround for the No. 8-ranked Gryphons on Saturday afternoon when they closed out their road swing in Kingston, taking on the No. 10-ranked Queen's Gaels in matchup of two nationally ranked sides. Guelph would get on the board first as Katy McKenna wristed home her 4th goal of the season into the top corner of the net to give her side the lead in the opening period. Sophie Helfenstein's bid for back-to-back shutouts as the Gryphs will still come away with the 4-1 road victory. Helfenstein turned made 19 saves to earn her 11th win of the season. The Gryphons with the win improves 15-2-3 and currently sit in second in the OUA West division. The Gaels fall to 15-5-1 with the loss as they remain atop of the OUA East division.
The Gryphons (14-5-1) return home to the Gryphon Centre Arena ice when they take on the Waterloo Warriors on Wednesday night (Jan. 28) before hosting the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday night (Jan. 31).
