BURLINGTON, Ont. - For the second consecutive week, and the third time this season, fifth-year kicker
Gabe Ferraro has been named the OUA's Special Teams Player of the Week. The latest conference-wide honour for the Leadership & Organizational Management student comes following a 4-for-4 field goal performance on Saturday (Oct. 20) in his team's 47-44 double overtime victory over the Waterloo Warriors.
Week 9 OUA Players of the Week
Offence: Tyler Ternowski (Receiver, Waterloo)
Defence: Kadeem Thomas (Defensive Back, York)
Special Teams: Gabe Ferraro (Kicker, Guelph)
Big kicks are nothing new for Ferraro.

The fifth-year phenom was his clutch self against the Warriors, nailing four field goals that not only helped his team to victory but also put his name in the U SPORTS record books – again. Ferraro was good on short kicks of 24 and 27 yards near the end of the first and third quarters respectively. But his most critical contribution was still to come.
Ferraro sent the game into overtime by coolly hitting a 32-yard field goal on the final play of the fourth quarter. And in the second OT, he went back to work, with a make from 42 yards out that proved to be the winning points. That three-pointer was also big from an historic point of view. Ferraro's winning field goal was the 91
st of his Gryphon career, tying the U SPORTS regular season record for most ever, previously established by the University of Calgary's Johnny Mark. Leave it to Ferraro, who also holds the U SPORTS record for most field goals in a single-season (33 in 2017), to make history on his team's final kick of the regular season, with a playoff spot hanging in the balance.
