BURLINGTON, ON - On Wednesday, November 8, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) officially announced the list of All-Stars for the 2017 football season with a total of five Gryphons receiving recognition.

Fourth year kicker Gabe Ferraro was one of four Gryphons to earn the title of OUA 1st Team All-Star in 2017. Gabe's memorable 2017 season saw him set a new U SPORTS single-season record with 33 made field goals (shattering the previous national record of 26 held by his older brother and former Gryphon, Daniel). This marks the second time in Gabe's career that he has been named an OUA 1st Team All-Star after also accomplishing the feat in 2015. Senior receiver Jacob Scarfone also was named an OUA 1st Team All-Star for the second time in his career. After missing the entire 2016 season due to injury, Scarfone was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats during the 2017 CFL Draft in May, and in August, returned to U of G for his final season as a Gryphon, leading the team in receptions (37), receiving yards (634) and touchdown receptions (5).  Scarfone, who was named a 2nd Team All-Canadian in 2015, finishes his U of G career 7th on the school's all-time list for career receiving yards with 1,703.

Nick Parisotto, who like Scarfone was a 2nd Team All-Canadian back in 2015, is also back on the OUA's 1st Team after a one year hiatus. The fourth year defensive back has now been named an OUA All-Star three years in a row (1st Team in '15 & 17, 2nd Team in '16). Parisotto finished the regular season third on the team with 32 tackles to go along with 1 interception and 1 forced fumble. Fourth year offensive lineman Andrew Pickett has also earned OUA All-Star status for the third consecutive year. This season, the Kitchener native was named to the conference's 1st Team for the first time in his U of G career after helping anchor the Gryphons up front. Back in August, Pickett was ranked No. 13 on the CFL Scouting Bureau List. Another member of the Gryphons' offensive line was represented on the OUA All-Star teams, with 6-foot-5, 315 pound Cambridge native Eric Starczala earning a spot on the 2nd Team. It marks the first time in Starczala's career that he has been recognized as a conference All-Star.
