6-foot-4, 274 pound rookie defensive lineman
Sandor Mod (Welland, ON) was one of the top rookies in the conference at any position, earning a starting spot at defensive tackle for the Gryphons in eight games during his rookie year (6 regular season, 2 playoff). The Animal Biology major was also recently named to Team Canada's U19 roster and will compete at the International Bowl in Texas in January 2018.
Freshman returner
Ryan Isenor finished 2nd in the OUA with 470 punt return yards, while also adding 280 yards in kickoff returns. The native of Delhi, Ontario also took a missed field goal back for a 125-yard touchdown in Week 3 versus the Windsor Lancers, earning him U SPORTS Special Teams Player of the Week honours.
First year linebacker
Kosi Onyeka put together an impressive rookie season, starting on four special teams units while also contributing defensively on the defensive side of the ball in the Gryphons' dime packages. Fellow rookie linebacker,
Jared Beeksma (Cambridge, ON), a product of Jacob Hespeler Secondary School, joins Onyeka on the All-Rookie team. Beeksma saw significant time on special teams while serving as the backup outside linebacker behind senior Derek Drouillard.
