TORONTO, ON - After two days of competition at the 2016 OUA Figure Skating Championships, hosted by the University of Toronto (Feb. 22 & 23), the Gryphons varsity figure skating team earned a fourth place finish in the team standings with a total of nine schools competing. The Gryphons reached the podium in a total of six times out of 14 events at the two day competition and were in the mix for a podium spot in the team standings during the final day of competition. The Gryphons actually sat third in the team standings heading into the final event of the championships (team synchro) with a slim three point lead over the fourth place competitor. Despite the fact that the Gryphons produced a season-high score in the synchro, it still wasn't enough to hold off surging McMaster who took Gold in the event and a Bronze in the overall team standings. The host Varsity Blues came out on top of the team standings and secured their first provincial title in 25 years.
