Guelph, Ont. (September 12, 2014) – The Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team won their third game in a row after a 34-6 victory over the Western Mustangs on Friday night at Varsity Field. The Gryphons move to 3-0 for the season and the Mustangs drop to 1-1. The win has the Gryphons atop the OUA standings.
The Mustangs started the scoring against the Gryphons with a penalty goal by Mike Santangeli (Oakville, Ont.) to make it 3-0 early on in the first half. The Gryphons would finally cross the goal line scoring the first try of the game with a successful conversion, to set them ahead 7-3 in the first half.

The try would give the Gryphons momentum with two more tries and one conversion in the first half, making it 19-3 for Guelph going into the second half. The Mustangs would pick up momentum, trying to find the sidelines and get around the wall of Gryphons, but would be unable to score a try. The Gryphons would score two more tries, a conversion and a penalty goal to make the final score 34-6, after a Mustang penalty goal.
