Gryphon Figure Skaters Bring Home Gold from Winter Invitational

London, Ont. (January 23, 2014) - The Guelph Gryphons figure skating team continued their momentum from Tuesday afternoon into the second day of competition, turning a tie for first place into a convincing 25 point lead for the gold medal finish at the Winter Invitational in London, Ont.

The team finished the first day of competition with three first place skates. The Gryphons continued this streak, opening day two with three more consecutive first place performances. Anjuli Dabydeen opened the day winning the Gold ladies freeskate event. Returning veteran skater Francis Adamo took gold in the mens freeskate, followed by another first in the short program by Kelsey Sobkowich.

Other highlights from the day include a second place for Rebecca Wong in the senior silver solo dance, and a strong fifth place skate for Victoria Ambrose in the open solo dance.
