WINDSOR, Ont. – The Gryphon women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to the Windsor Lancers in Windsor Saturday. The women's record moves to 5-2-0 on the season while the Lancers improve to 3-3-1.
Courtney Whiteside (Guelph, Ont.) opened the scoring for Guelph in the 20
th minute but the Lancers battled back to take a 2-1 lead before halftime with goals from Giulia Barile and Jacklyn Faraci in the 22
nd and 31
st minute. Windsor's Brianne Riccardi scored the lone goal in the second half at the 57
th minute mark to make the final 3-1 for the Lancers.
The Gryphons outshot the Lancers 12-11 in the loss and goalie Alex King made two saves in the loss.
The Gryphons return home Sunday to face the UOIT Ridgebacks at 1:00 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
