The defending CIS champion Guelph Gryphon women's rugby team started off the 2012 season with a 53-8 win over the McMaster Marauders today (Sept. 5) in Guelph. The CIS No. 2 Gryphons move to 1-0 on the season while the Marauders fall to 0-1.
The Gryphons roared out of the gates as the Marauders found it difficult to shut down Guelph's potent offence.

Britt Benn of Napanee, Ont. propelled her team and led all players with 15 points in the win. Guelph native
Caitlin McNally contributed two tries for 10 points while
Morganne Linthwaite of Guelph, Ont., rookie
Bronwyn McCrone of Mississauga, Ont. and
Samantha Pepper of Turkey Point, Ont. each added single tries. Second year
Stephanie Tibelius of Ottawa picked up four converts for a total of eight points.
The Gryphons return to action this Sunday, September 9 when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at the Gryphon Soccer Complex at 1:00 p.m.
