Gryphons shutout Lancers 2-0 on the road

The Gryphon women's soccer squad shutout the Lancers 2-0, under soggy skies this afternoon (Sept. 22) at Alumni Field in Windsor.

The win advances the Gryphons to 3-1-2 in OUA West standings and drops the Lances to 0-5-2.

Both teams struggled with the wet field in the first half, but play was evenly matched. The Gryphons opened the scoring in the 29th minute, with a goal from Alexandra Harriss (Dundas, ON).

The first half of the match ended in Guelph's favour; the Lancers tried to fight back unable to convert many close encounters at the net.

At the 49th minute of the second half, rookie striker Kaitlin Mulholland (Burlington, ON) added the Gryphons' insurance goal, putting the girls up 2-0. As the sun started to peek through the clouds, the game once again became evenly matched and the Lancers started to show a presence on Guelph's side of the field. However, with no one able to score for the Lancers the game ended with a final score of 2-0 for the Gryphons.

The Gryphons will be back in action Sunday, September 23, when they take on the Mustangs in London. Game time is set for 1PM.
