YORK - Pat Dufresne's school record and CIS leading jump in the men's triple jump highlighted the Gryphon track teams results at the York Open this weekend.
Patrick Dufresne of Sault Ste. Marie recorded a 60 centimetre personal best with his 14.51 metre jump and vaulted from ninth in the CIS rankings to the national lead. His win was one of eight on the day for the Gryphons.
Other highlights included
Timothy Hendry (Parry Sound, Ont.) two victories in the men's shot and weight throw.
Rachel Aubry (Ottawa) returning to action with a victory in the women's 600 metres and the Gryphon women winning both the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 metre relays.
Tommy Lecours (Quebec City, QC) in the men's 1000 and Matt MacDonald (St. Catharine's, Ont.) in the men's 600 rounded out the victors for the Gryphons.
With only three weeks left until the OUA Championships the Gryphons are moving into a crucial phase in their season as athletes look to position themselves for the OUA Championships February 24th and 25th at York and the CIS Championships March 8th to 10th in Winnipeg.
The Gryphons will be back in action next weekend with a group heading down to the SPIRE NCAA DI Indoor Track Invitational where they will take 17 of the top NCAA programs. The remainder of the team will head to Windsor for the Team Challenge.
