Gryphon women's volleyball player Brooke Lloyd and men's hockey player Justin Gvora were named the Gryphon Athletes of the Week.
Fourth year Brooke Lloyd of Whitby, Ont. was instrumental in earning the Gryphon women's volleyball team a pair of crucial wins this weekend to keep their playoff hopes. The left side hitter scored 32 points in total including 29 kills, one ace and two blocks. On Friday night she helped the team to a 3-0 win over Toronto tallying 17 points (16 kills, 1 block). The next night the Gryphons came back after being down 2-0 to defeat the OUA leading York Lions 3-2. Lloyd was a dominant force in the comeback and earned 15 points including 13 kills, one ace and one block.
Gryphon men's hockey player Justin Gvora from Thunder Bay, Ont. tallied three points this past weekend in the Gryphons 3-2 overtime win over the Laurier Golden Hawks. The centre tallied a pair of assists on the first two goals and then scored the overtime game winner. He also won 67% of his face-offs.
